ingredients needed to make ground beef and noodles
  • Ground Beef: we use an 80% lean, 20% fat ground beef. Feel free to swap with a different protein if you prefer!
  • Noodles: feel free to use your favorite ramen, egg noodles, rice noodles, instant noodles with packets discarded, etc.
  • Mirin: mirin is a Japanese sweet cooking wine. If you’d like to substitute it with something else, I recommend using a Chinese cooking wine or dry sherry.
  • Fresh ginger and garlic: Using fresh ingredients where you can will really add to the overall dish. Use garlic powder in place of fresh garlic, if necessary.

Followed the recipe very closely – which I do not always do! Used rice noodles. Toasted the sesame seeds myself. Came out great. Everyone liked it. Thanks!

This turned out well, but I made a few adjustments to fit my tastes and what I had available.
I cooked this in a wok. I browned the ground beef in high heat peanut oil, along with the diced garlic, and then removed the ground beef/garlic mixture to a bowl and set it aside.
I then cooked the onion until it softened and added sliced baby bella mushrooms.
Once the onion and mushroom mixture was almost done, then added left-over brown rice and continued cooking until everything was mix together and hot. I added the ground beef back to the wok, pushed everything to the sides and poured the sauce in the middle, heated it until it was starting to boil, then mixed it all together to coat.
I changed the sauce a bit, substituting chili-garlic sauce for the sriracha.

Awesome! I had all the ingredients on hand and ended up tossing it over zoodles for a healthy alternative!
