Not only are they delicious but they are so much fun to make too!

Great for Easter, brunch, or really whenever because they are so good and everyone always loves them.

The warm cream cheese center with the sweetness from the strawberries and cinnamon sugar coating is heavenly. Plus, you can get the kids involved in the kitchen too – I know they will have a blast filling and rolling em’ up!

Ingredients Needed

This recipe requires pretty basic ingredients, most of which you probably already have on hand! Woo!

ingredients needed to make french toast

You can scroll down to the recipe card for the full list of ingredients and measurements.

  • Bread: We like using the Buttermilk White Bread
  • Cream Cheese: Be sure it is softened so it spreads easily on the bread. You’ll need a brick of full-fat cream cheese or reduced fat cream cheese. (Depending on how many roll ups you make you may use less than 1 brick/ 8 ounces).
  • Sugar: granulated white sugar for rolling
  • Cinnamon: ground cinnamon for rolling
  • Strawberries: Fresh, diced strawberries
  • Milk, Eggs, and Butter

Step by Step Directions

Making this recipe might take a little longer than your typical french toast because you have to cut the crust off of the bread and roll the bread out with a rolling pin, but this process make for a seamless roll up (and it’s easier than it might sound!)

Be sure to scroll down to the recipe card for the full recipe instructions.

  1. Cut the crust off of the bread & flatten with a rolling pin.
  2. Combine strawberries with a little sugar.
  3. Whisk eggs, milk and a touch of cinnamon together.
  4. In a separate dish, combine sugar and cinnamon (for rolling).
  5. Spread cream cheese on bread, followed by strawberries and roll.
  6. Dip the bread rolls in the egg mixture.
  7. Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  8. Cook until golden on all sides.
  9. Remove from skillet and roll in cinnamon sugar mixture.

Other Filling Ideas:

I chose to fill these french toast roll ups with cream cheese and strawberries but there are SO many other options you can choose from:

  • Nutella and Strawberries
  • Almond or peanut butter with banana
  • Sausage
  • Blueberries and cream cheese
  • Apple pie filling
  • A cinnamon/brown sugar/butter filling

For breakfast do you typically prefer sweet or savory?
