Dinner Decided: Week 5 Meal Plan
This post may contain affiliate links. Please read our disclosure policy.

I really like this week’s lineup of recipes because it feels like a good balance of recipes to keep dinner interesting all week long. There is still plenty of ingredient overlap (using the lemons, garlic, onions, potatoes, herbs, and avocados) and lots of protein variety this week (with chicken, pork, steak, and ground turkey) so no two dinners feel the same.
This menu is built for busy weeknights that double as fantastic leftovers. As always, I’ve already done the planning for you to make weeknight cooking easier, minimize grocery waste with intentional ingredient overlap, and take the guesswork out of what’s for dinner!
Week 5 has…

Why This Week Works
- 🥣 A little bit of everything. This week’s lineup includes a nourishing sweet potato bowl, a comforting but light meatball recipe, a quick stir fry, an easy slow cooker dinner, and a fresh steak salad to keep dinners exciting all week long.
- 🛒 Smart ingredient overlap. Garlic, onions, lemons, potatoes, avocados, and fresh herbs are used across multiple recipes to help reduce food waste and make the most of your grocery haul.
- ⏱️ Designed for busy weeknights. You’ll have a mix of 30-minute meals, a hands-off slow cooker recipe, and recipes that come together with simple, everyday ingredients.
- 🍽️ No dinner fatigue. Turkey, chicken, pork, and steak mean every night feels different while still keeping the menu balanced.
- 📦 Great for leftovers. Many of these recipes reheat beautifully for lunches or make enough to enjoy again later in the week.
- 🍫 A sweet treat that’s a little more wholesome. Finish the week with rich, fudgy Black Bean Brownies. It’s a fun dessert that sneaks in a nutritious twist.
- 👨👩👧👧 Family-friendly with room to customize. Each recipe is easy to customize to fit kids needs and likes. For instance, I usually serve the piccata meatballs to my kids with buttered noodle angle hair and fresh fruit, or for the salad night I’ll cut up the steak and serve with and leftover potatoes, avocado, and fruit.

Dinner, Decided: Week 5 Meal Plan
Monday

- Serving Suggestion: It’s all about the toppings with bowls! Serve with my pickled onions, cilantro, cheese, avocado, sour cream, or green onions.
Tuesday

- Serving Suggestion: Serve with angel hair pasta and any veggie you enjoy! Think: garlic butter mushrooms, asparagus, side salad…
Wednesday

- Serving Suggestion: Serve with ramen, rice, or fried rice!
Thursday

- Serving Suggestion: A dinner that has protein, veggies, and carbs cooked all together? Say less! You shouldn’t need any sides with this all-in-one meal, but of course feel free to personalize to your liking!
Friday

- Serving Suggestion: This salad is great on its own, but if you’re really looking for something to go with it, pick up some fresh French or sourdough bread (or make my Same Day Focaccia, Rosemary Garlic Pull Apart Rolls, or Overnight No Knead Bread).
Sweet Treet

- Serving Suggestion: All ingredients get blended in a food processor or blender, baked for just 30 minutes, and your sweet treat of the week is done! So fudgy and no one will detect the beans!
- Serving Size: I recommend making two batches if you have a big family – these will go fast!
