Chicken Breakfast Sausage Patties

These Homemade Chicken Breakfast Sausage Patties are juicy, flavorful, and so easy to make at home with just a few simple ingredients. They’re a protein-packed breakfast recipe perfect for meal prep, breakfast sandwiches, or serving with your favorite eggs and toast!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground chicken, or ground pork sausage
  • 1 Tbsp. maple syrup
  • tsp. kosher salt
  • A few grinds of black pepper
  • 1 tsp. poultry seasoning
  • 1 tsp. olive oil, this helps keep them moist and never dry!
  • 1/2 tsp. onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp. dried sage
  • Pinch red pepper flakes
  • Avocado oil, for cooking stovetop

Instructions

  • Mix the sausage: In a medium bowl, combine all ingredients. Mix until just combined (don’t overmix).

  • Form patties: Divide mixture into ~6-8 small patties, about ~3 inches wide. Slightly wet hands help prevent sticking when shaping.

Choose Your Cooking Method

  • Stovetop: Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a little avocado oil. Cook patties for ~4-5 minutes per side Start Timer, or until golden brown on each side and internal temp reaches 165°F. Don’t overcrowd the pan; work in batches. Place cooked patties on a paper towel-lined plate or baking sheet.

  • Air Fryer: Preheat to 375°F. Arrange patties in a single layer. Cook for 9-11 minutes Start Timer, flipping halfway through, until cooked through
  • Oven: Preheat to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment. Bake for 15-18 minutesStart Timer, flipping halfway, until internal temp reaches 165°F.

Notes

  • Store: Store leftover sausage patties in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Reheat in a skillet, air fryer, or microwave until warmed through.
  • Freeze: Let the patties cool completely, then place them in a freezer-safe bag or container with parchment paper between layers. Freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator or reheat directly from frozen.
