To make, pat the roast dry and season with salt and pepper. Then, sear in a skillet and add to the slow cooker.

In the same skillet, melt the butter. Add the sliced onions and sauté. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.

Add the tomato paste to the skillet and stir to coat the onions and garlic. Cook for 1–2 minutes to deepen the flavor. Stir in the tomato sauce, ranch seasoning mix, and au jus gravy mix.
