Clinical Nutrition Week this year was from Feb. 14-Feb 17 in Long Beach. It was my first time attending and I am so thankful I did. Dietitians, pharmacists, nurses, doctors, and other health professionals gather from 40 different countries and meet to expand their learning. By attending this conference, individuals are investing in themselves and their career. I really like to attend conferences for not only that important reason but to also increase your networking community. Networking is one of the most important way to build your brand and be heard.
As you can see from the picture, it was my first time attending! I was brave and went to the conference on my own. Even though I am still a Dietetic Intern I figured I should soak up as much information during this time as I can. So, I ventured out to sessions I did not know much on, and I also went to sessions to brush on on some topics… and I learned a lot. I attended the pre-conference sessions and it was a LONG day. The first lecture was from 7am-11am, we had a 1 hour break, and then the next presenters were from 12-4pm. Despite the long day, it am so happy I attended. I was fortunate enough to hear some brilliant people speak and expand my learning.
There was also several poster presentations to view. Incredible research and information was presented and I enjoyed reading them. I certainly want to encourage any individuals who are seeking a profession in clinical dietetics to attend this conference. Also, current practicing clinical dietitians can obtain many CEU’s from attending conferences such as this. It makes it fun when you go with friends or colleagues! Communicating with the variety of health professional’s who attend these conferences is motivating and inspiring. All in all, I am satisfied with my first experience at CNW15! Next up: CDA Annual Meeting in Riverside…and I am already anxious for FNCE at Nashville in October!! 🙂
